Hey everybody out there in Disc Golf land, Here are the top 3 performing teams so far this DGPT season.
For this review, we took a look at the top 20 DGPT ranked players and grouped them by team. To qualify as a team, Teams must have at least 2 players in the top 20 DGPT ranked players. Dynamic Discs and Mint didn’t make the cut despite outstanding individual performances by Ricky Wysocki and Mason Ford.
#3 Team Prodigy
At Number 3 in our ranking of best performing teams this season is Team Prodigy.
Team Prodigy had 3 top-20 ranked players with 5th ranked Luke Humphries, 7th ranked Ezra Robinson, and 19 ranked Vaino Makela all contributing to the team’s 475.2 total points. Prodigy’s best showing was at WACO where Humphries finished 2nd and Ezra finished 7th. The team has an average finish of 15th across the 4 tournaments so far this season. Unfortunately, Isaac Robinson, 2023’s PDGA World Champion, has yet to break-in to the top 20 DGPT ranked players this season.
#2 Team Discmania
Coming in at number 2, we have Team Discmania with 3 players ranked 2nd, 3rd, and 4th with Gannon Buhr, Kyle Klein, and Niklas Anttila contributing 863.4 total points. Discmania’s best finish was at The Open at Austin where Anttila, Klein, and Buhr nearly swept the podium finishing 1st, 2nd, and 4th respectively. Additionally, each team member managed top 10 finishes in 3 of the 4 events covered so far. Despite, Anttila’s finish at Texas, the team has an average finish of 12th place across the 4 tournaments. Keep an eye out for Casey White to make an appearance later this season.
#1 Team Discraft
At number 1, is was Team Discraft with 5 players in the top 20 ranked 1st, 10th, 13th, 14th, and 17th with Anthony Barela, Adam Hammes, Chris Dickerson, Aaron Gossage, and Ezra Aderhold contributing 925.68 points, nudging out Discmania for the top spot with exemplary play from Barela and Aderhold at Texas State, boosting the team’s average finish to 14th. With Dickerson playing an abbreviated season, it will be interesting to see if Corey Ellis can chip in to get points on the board for his team.
For now, its Discraft, Discmania, and Prodigy as the top performing teams so far this season.
